Information first
PET157 can organise owner concerns, history, current medicines, region and available records. A qualified professional may then decide that more information, examination, referral or no pathway is appropriate.
Review is not an automatic decision
Submitting a profile does not create a diagnosis, prescription, payment, product approval or guarantee of availability. Veterinary-client-patient relationship and telemedicine requirements differ by jurisdiction and must be satisfied by the responsible professional.
- The animal and jurisdiction must be identified.
- Existing care and medicines need context.
- The reviewer decides whether examination or further records are needed.
- Availability and fulfilment remain separate gates.
Compounding remains regulated
FDA explains that compounded animal drugs are not FDA-approved. Its GFI #256 describes circumstances and enforcement priorities for certain veterinary compounding from bulk drug substances; it is not blanket authorization. Draft GFI #256B, issued in August 2026, is draft guidance and not final policy.
