Senior dog mobility
Evidence-led options for older dogs losing mobility, confidence or function.
Separate ageing from a change needing assessment
Describe changes in getting up, walking, toileting, play and sleep. Include the timeline and current health conditions. A veterinary review can consider the whole animal rather than assuming every change is a joint problem.
Make the home observations useful
Note the surfaces and activities that seem difficult. Record what the dog can comfortably do and any changes after a veterinary plan begins. Ask about body condition, activity, home adaptations and review intervals.
When to use local care
If your pet is in distress, cannot bear weight, has suffered trauma or is deteriorating rapidly, contact a local veterinary clinic. A public information enquiry cannot assess an emergency.
